This week’s program has something to learn about health, nutrition, and local business development, all at the same time.
The Pottstown FARM was started in 2016 when a group of community-minded Pottstown area residents got together to start an outdoor market throughout the spring/summer season. Today, the Pottstown FARM has changed locations, added a number of vendors and has an average of over 600 visitors each week of the market.
Sheila Dugan will describe two programs which have seen tremendous growth, the SNAP Incentives and The Two Bite Club. Both help FARM bring healthy, locally produced foods to our community's children and families in need.
Please note - we are planning to continue with a hybrid meeting format. For hybrid meetings we are aiming for a minimum of 20 in-person attendees in order to support the meeting logistics. For those comfortable to attend in person, masking and social distancing rules will be followed although relaxed if you are vaccinated. Registration is required for in-person attendance so that we can plan meals. Register here if you have not done so.

Habitat's annual Rock the Block event takes place in their three Neighborhood Revitalization Zones: Upper Darby, Pottstown, and Norristown.
With our project, we will be doing a tree planting and site clean-up in the Edgewood Cemetery, a historic cemetery near downtown Pottstown. Edgewood Cemetery is currently under the care of community groups and functions more as a park and walk and run area. This is a very visible and highly used area that needs love and attention to honor both the new and former residents of the Pottstown Community. The scope of work includes siting (following a design plan) the new trees first with markers, then installing the container trees in the designated places. We will also do spring clean-up with the landscape plant beds located at the entrances to the cemetery area. Volunteers will need to dress comfortable as we will be digging holes and working outdoors in a bright, open area. We recommend volunteers wear clothing in layers and wear work/hiking boots or sneakers. Our affiliate office is also working to improve our use of plastics and strongly encourage volunteers to bring their own re-fillable water bottles. We will provide the bulk water in 5-gallon jugs for re-filling.

Big Ticket night is back after 2 years. This is one of the premier events on the Rotary calendar and we're set to go - this Wednesday, May 11th.
For the new members of the club, the event is based around a reverse raffle - object is you want to be one of the lucky people holding one of the last 5 tickets. During the raffle we give away random cash prizes to numbers pulled.
The $120 per person price includes entry into the raffle, 2 drink tickets and choice of Prime Rib or Salmon dinner.
Mike Sloane at Brookside will have tickets for you and your guests. He will be the point person for ticket sales.
I am expecting the tickets to go very fast this year since we have not had this event for two years. Many of the attendees are Brookside club members so don't hesitate to get your tickets.
PLEASE download the Neidig Chairperson packet HERE as it has all the necessary registration instructions. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required for students to attend camp.
In the Neidig Chairperson Packet you will also see easy hyperlinks to register your club and your campers and buy chicken barbeque tickets. I have attached the packets HERE for your convenience.
For complete instructions, please make sure you read the Club Chairperson Packet. We have included screen shots to help make registering easy. The registration fee is $300/camper. There is no limit on how many campers a club sends.
Neidig Night tickets will only be available through on-line purchase with a credit card. Remember, the price of the Neidig Night Barbeque is included in the camper tuition, so you do not need to purchase tickets for campers.
To help people understand the spirit of our camp, we created a short promotional video that can be accessed on our website home page. This is a wonderful tool to use for recruitment of campers. If you have any questions or need additional help, please to do not hesitate to contact Charlie or myself at the e-mail addresses listed below.
Thanks for your support and see you at camp!!
